Alex Berke is currently a researcher at the MIT Media Lab in the City Science Group. Her recent research focuses on privacy-preserving ways to leverage large datasets, commonly collected by private companies, as public goods. Berke’s research interests also include transforming data economies.
Prior to academia she worked as a technologist in organizations ranging from small startups to large companies and political campaigns. Most recently Berke was working at Google on a Search team focused on social impact and fighting disinformation.
Berke received her master’s degree from the MIT Media Lab and bachelor’s degrees from Brown University in mathematics and computer science.
